Project: Exhibition "The Arabian World"

"The Kunstmuseum Bonn is preparing, in co-operation with Karin Adrian of Roques, curator and orient expert, an art exhibition called "The Arabian World", the opening of which is planned for spring 2005. The exhibition will present a selection of contemporary artworks by Arabian artists from Arabian countries - such as Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Oman, Yemen, Syria, Egypt, Palestine and Morocco. ... It is intended to show the exhibition not only in Bonn but in other European countries as well as in the Arabian countries themselves. ... Before the background of the political events in the past years, we attach great importance to the realization of this exhibition on contemporary Arabian art and are convinced of the necessity of the project. We would like to draw the attention to the fact that the Arab world has experienced its own remarkable development of contemporary art. ... Moreover, we consider the planned exhibition mainly as a contribution to the intercultural dialogue. ... A symposium on an international level together with an accompanying programme shall contribute to a better understanding of the Arabian art and culture and to intensify the intercultural dialogue. ..."

A similar project with contemporary art from by artists from Iran is planned and in preparation.
